A Day Out To Celebrate

Today was my daughters birthday and we had a pretty good 1/2 day.
I hopped out of bed took a shower, took  Fred out and ran to Safeway for a gift card and cards for Debbie. I picked up a Kohl's gift card as Debbie really likes shopping there. found this cute dog that had Doxie's on so I picked that up and a bar of chocolate from Fred.

I couldn't wait to have some coffee when I got home. So out to the porch we went. We sat out for a little bit as it was getting hot really early.

When Debbie came we went to IHop for her banana pancakes. We love driving through our old neighborhoods so we did that since we were in the area. Then we stopped at Good Will hoping to find something I could use for a treasure chest. I first spotted a wooden one but it was to big and they wanted too much for it. Debbie spotted a little one and I knew I could do something with it so I picked it up. Then we went over to Lowe's so I could get a bigger roll up shade for the carport.

After Debbie left I started working on the treasure chest. Now I need to find some little treasures to put in it.

I was hoping I would have enough paint sure was close

Found these little things on line and printed them out. I only had copper colored paint to for the nail heads and locks but hey this IS Arizona the Copper State

Don't know how long it will last but I sure hope Cello the treasure hunter enjoys it.

Good Night All

You sure are creative. I always though I'd wait to get a treasure chest when I got some treasure...still waiting.

    1. Good morning John,

Thank you from Debbie. And thank you for me but I just slapped some paint on the box and found these pictures online and glued them on. Cello is into pirates these days so I figured I'd give him his treasure chest.. Besides it kept me busy for a while.

    1. Hi Carolyn,

Yes just hopped right on out. When you have to get things done on time nothing like waiting to the last minute so you have to jump out. LOL
It was fun to put together.

  3. I once made a treasure chest like this for my husbands birthday. I added some of those chocolate coins and some pirate bubble gum. I printed out mini maps of places for us to visit together and rolled them up. It was a fun project to work on. Yours looks great, I think I just used a shoe box covered with a map.

    1. Hi Teri,

Sounds like you had a fun time too. I'm going to the party store tomorrow morning to see what I can find there. I rolled up the map and tide it with a ribbon. I'll look for a few more. The shoe box was a good idea too.

    1. Hi Karen,

Yes maybe I can find one for my other great grandson. Finding treasures for boys is always exciting for them.

  6. Very clever with the treasure chest. I don't know if you want Cello to have candy but you know those gold wrapped chocolates that come in a very small mesh bag? I think Walgreen's sells them in the candy aisle. Would make a fun treasure along with another small treat. lol Just an idea.

    1. Hi Sondra,

Had to take Fred to the groomer this morning and I bought gas. We came home straight away as it was already hot and now the humidity is starting to build up.
