Fence Fixing an Painting

We had some crazy hard wind yesterday. I can't believe I didn't have anymore damage than the little fence blowing over. I was letting Fred out and I noticed something didn't look right. So I walked over to the end of the porch and realized the gate was over and half of the fence was down also. And there was Fred planning his escape route. So I let him finish his business and went to do a little mending to keep him in. I knew it wasn't going to last but it had to do until this morning. I had to make the area a little smaller but it is much sturdier and looks much neater than it did.

I went to Lowe's to buy more fencing which I am bringing back since I didn't need it. I also bought a small can of paint to fix a wall in the Laundry room that had been damaged by one of those portable screen things that had Velcro instead of the tension rod. the Velcro came off and took a layer off the sheet rock. It looked really bad. I have never bought Olympia paint  before and it took 3 coats to paint that small wall. I am taking it back also. The wall color was very light so it should have covered just fine with one coat. I still see streaks. I don't have time or energy for this mess, I really wanted to do all the walls in there as I have not painted in there since I first moved in. And yes the paint had primer or so it said.

We still had wind today but it was not as bad as yesterday and tomorrow they are calling for more wind. All the cleaning I did yesterday was a waste of time. I'll leave it for Wed. morning before the company gets here.

Good Night All

  1. Sorry about the paint mess. I hate when a plan doesn't come together like I imagine it. Hopefully the wind dies down without rain!

  2. Hi Karen,

I am so out of energy and still things need doing and I only have 2 days left. Oh well it will get done or it won't. Hope the wind is gone.

  3. Hi Jo, the wind has been really bad here also. Can't really be outside since it wrecks havoc on the allergies. :-(

I am busy today loading up more things to take to charity. Just way too much "stuff".

  4. I have always enjoyed painting but at my age now I'm tired of it. When I painted my kitchen I finished most of it except for a few of the drawer and cabinet fronts. Gotta do that this summer, and I will paint the bathroom when the boys finish the remodeling job. I may try to enlist the help of one of my kids!

  5. Glad you got Fred fixed up again so he can't go on a gallivant...did you get flat paint? It should cover good I used Olympic for my last paint over that yellow in the kitchen, it covered easily...but if the paper covering on the sheetrock was torn it may take more to cover over that spot. Lowes is good about returns so you won't have any problem returning!

  6. Hi JMD,

Yes the allergies are bad from all the wind. I tried not to go out the first day but had things to do out doors yesterday.

After the company leaves I will get back into the clean out too. And finally put the Christmas stuff on Craig's list and a few other free adds.

    Hi Gypsy,

I also used to love to paint but it sure can take a toll on ones body. I had wanted to do the kitchen cabinets but I don't think I can pull that off at all the kitchen has lots of cabinets.

    Hi Sondra,

Yes I was happy to get the fence fixed. I did get flat, the places I had to fix came out fine it was the rest of the wall that just wouldn't cover. Had to do some touching up on it today but now it is all put away until after the company goes. I need to repaint the front room as the walls are showing aged paint there too. But since there isn't much in that room it should be easy to paint. UGH is there no end
