Yesterday a very fast moving fire started in the White Mountains in the Show Low, Pinetop/Lakeside area and was only 9 miles from those towns. Still have no idea how this was started. It is already at 8,000'. Seems the Cedar Creek Fire has been held back and has not crossed the fire line made by the fire crews, the wind also was less intense than they thought it might be. Still keeping pre evacuations in place. Bless those Fire Fighters and all other crews working this fire there are many. They work long hours in extreme heat. I have met a few during and after the Wallo Fire. Please pray for their safety. Ft. Apache under pre evacuation most of the fire is on White Mountain Apache land. They have a huge fire crew out there also.
Went to Walmart today and believe me it was forced. I tried to talk myself out of it hard. But I needed things I knew they didn't have at the little store. Besides it got me some exercise walking all over the store. Needed white yarn and of course they had a really pretty color so I had to buy 2 skeins for a hat and scarf. Have plenty to crocheting to do. I'm sure I will switch to smaller things as it gets hotter as the blanket I am working on now is getting pretty heavy. We still will have 2 more days of cooler weather like 102 then Sunday the heat will hit hard. I am so ready for this I think. Just hate sitting with all the blinds closed but it sure helps.

Been watching that fire on the news. So scary. Firefighters are beyond amazing. We go to walmart for exercise also.

Seems it is holding but haven't seen any updates this morning. Those Fire Fighters sure are amazing and they works such long hours with their lives in constant danger.
Fighting fires in this heat is terrible. Of course, anytime is a bad time for fire !
ReplyDeleteThe smoke from the Show Low fire, the NorthFire near Magdalena NM and the DogHead fire SE of ABQ are throwing smoke at us over here in southern NM. Very smokey out and good time to stay inside - well the 100 degree heat too. Lots of fire fighters out there in this sweltering heat.

Your getting hit from all sides. Definitely stay indoors. Just came in from checking on weeds and watering, It is already 100 at 11 am. done with the outdoors.

ReplyDeleteThe news has high heat all over the US, we have rain, rain, rain Im traveling this weekend and I went through so many areas of rain. I'd rather have rain than fire and intense heat tho for sure. HOPE that fire gets under control ASAP and no one gets hurt or loses their property!

ReplyDeleteYes it is early for such fires, not much snow over winter left things very dry. I'm getting done with early morning chores and then in the house until Fred needs out but we make quick work of that too.

Yes very high heat seems to be everywhere. But rain would be great right now. Hope your trip is fun and be as always be safe.
