Warning Rant

First part of this rant is the weather. I know not much can be done about it, it is what it is. But we will already be hitting 112 by this weekend. So I will be in the dark here with all the blinds closed to keep out a little of the heat and help out the a/c. This is going to be a long summer.

The movie Roots is now playing on about 5 channels. I'm sorry but why is this so necessary. Not one of my programs is on because Roots is on all those channels 24/7 will this go on for the entire month of June? I know it is a very important part of history, but it is a remake of the first movie. I just don't see why it has to consume so many channels.

I guess I will be doing lots of reading and coloring.

I ran to the grocery store today to get more veggies  and frozen yogurt. Hope I won't need to go out this weekend after 11 am.
I think I will set up the croc pot on the porch to cook up a batch of ham and bean soup. don't want to add any heat sources in the house.

Stay Cool

Good Night All

  2. My plans for the weekend were cancelled for the weekend so I'm not sure what I will come up with. I hate those kinds of temps.... It is just plain miserable. TV just isn't much of an option.... The shows I have liked are gone for the summer and I hate all the summer reality replacements. I guess it's time to get out there and find other things go to do... But then there is the heat again..

  4. In 2012 we were hitting 114, add to that the humidity we get and no thank you! I've heard a lot of people complain about the remake of ROOTS, many of the black people who can't understand why they needed to do this during a time when everybody gets offended by everything. I had no idea it was being played on multiple channels but if it's over the air, I guess they feel some how some way people will have to see it.

    I hope it cools off!

  5. My son is there for a convention and he emailed it was suppose to be around 115. Said since he is lives at 5,000 elevation location, here in NM, and being in that high a heat, with "heavier" air, it is gonna be a rough weekend for his breathing. Don't envy you folks. This is the time of the year when you become hermits. Take care.

  6. Hi Sondra,

I think it's time to cancel Directv and buy one of those antenna things that lets you get more channels without paying for them. This isn't even so called movie channel, I don't do any of those expensive one I have a cheap package its really annoying. I wish I could head out to cooler places but the breathing gets in the way of higher altitude.

    Hi Karen,

Sorry about your plans, I also had to cancel mine due to the heat this week. TV really stinks anymore. I don like some of the summer shows but they are now replaces by Roots. Yes getting out there to find something else to do in the heat isn't much of an option. But I am going to go back to Sr. exerces class starting Friday mornings, I'll just take it slow and easy and see how it goes.

    Hi Erik,

Nice to see you it has been a long time. Hope all is well.
It makes no sense to me to remake this movie and then to cram it down everyones throat. Oh well more reading will get done and maybe more hats and scarves made for next winters donation pile. Just drives me crazy to have to keep the blinds closed against the heat and sun.

  7. Hi Emily,

I feel for your son such a crap shoot to know when to come here this time of year. But this is early. What city is he in we are not very high in elivation here much lower that where he comes from, but the heat makes it hard to breath.Yes it is hermit time. If you get out very early in the morning and get things done then at least you see some daylight and maybe other people.

    1. He lives in Socorro NM which is around 5,000 feet. Early morning to get things done is right; and, if not too tired and just before sun goes down, I like evening.

  8. The heat really bothers me too, but I think this is going to be our future normal summer weather. When scrolling through my TV channels I only see Roots on one channel here (I have AT&T). I never understand why movie makers keep doing remakes of old stuff. Don't they have anything new they can come up with? But I can't complain because I don't watch them anyway. I'm cancelling my TV next month, and won't miss it except for the science and nature channels, and local news and weather.

  9. Hi Gypsy,

I ran out to lunch with a freind today and the car was a real oven. but the a/c worked fast thank heavens. I am going to buy one of those boxes so I can at least get local channels. I'm sick of paying for this junk they show. I will miss my favorites but oh well.

Can't run to the higher elevations because of a breathing problem and sure don't want to get stuck sitting in that camper during monsoon season. But I will keep looking at options.
