They're Back

Today I was given a clean bill of health finally. Of course we already knew I have COPD, so we discussed my heading to the mountains this summer. Dr. is going to see if my insurance will pay for one of those small oxygen machine. I doubt they will so I will see what I can find on Walmart.com and Amazon. I did get one of those cans that you can hold to your face it worked fine but that can get pretty expensive after awhile. Just have to see what we come up with.

And this morning when I was letting Fred out for his first visit the Humming birds were out there fighting over the feeder. Made my day. Hadn't seen them in awhile.

I hope to head out to do some camping in the area next week but we will see the weather looks kind of iffy.

Good Night All

    1. Thanks it was a little iffy there for awhile.

I can't wait to get out and do something soon and then longer term after the heat sets in.

  2. Hi Jo, glad you are healthy! My mom has prescribed Oxygen, we tried to get her on the Inogen 4 which is a portable concentrator, no go Medicare won't pay for that so she has to use the big machine at home and we use the tanks when she goes out. Hope your insurance will cover it for you. Do me a favor and drop me your email address...you can find my email on my blog page. Have a great week.

    1. We don't think they will pay for it either. But they do have them at Amazon for $309. complete. I can't understand why medicare doesn't go for the cheaper set up. I go over and look. I don't know why it didn't send to you the last time I tried. I must have your email down wrong not unusual for me.

  3. Great to hear about your checkup and the good news. I tried to get one of the small concentrators (another brand) for Jim, like Sondra did for her mom and no go either as I remember - or we'd have one. He, also, is on the big machine at home and the big and little tanks when he goes out. Think they are around $300+ to purchase, which I wish I could do right now. We might try again, since his needs are higher now. So hope it works out for you and you get to spend some time in the mountains.

    1. Hi Emily,

Thanks. I don't need it all that bad down here but if I head up to the mountains it will be tough. Lugging those tanks around can't be easy.

  4. Great news - love it. We're lucky so far in that Jim is still able to use his inhalers and his morning breathing meds. But those higher elevations can get tricky. He definitely needs a lot more help to breathe when we're in Montana than down here in the valley.

    1. Hi Sandie,

Yes it was a little stressful waiting for the test itself and they drove my Dr. nuts with all the questions. He couldn't believe they didn't understand what he wanted. We are both glad it is over with and all was well.

I do fine down here and the inhalers work pretty good for me too. But some days it seems impossible to breath. A while back I had bought the canned oxygen from Amazon and today I had to use it once. Yes the highter elevations are tough.

  5. Hi Jo. Glad the bill of health came out good!
I hope you get to camp soon! I understand about the problem with the breathing. I'm asthmatic and there's no worse feeling that struggling to breathe.

Have you tried other Internet sources for the oxygen machine? There are many companies that can help with what I use (CPAP) and all they need is a doctor's prescription. Take care!

  6. Hi Brad,

Thanks for the information. I haven't heard back yet from the Dr.s office about whether the ins will pay or how much if anything. From the looks of the comments here not much hope of them paying.

The weather here is so up and down it's hard to make plans.
