Mind you I'm not complaining one bit, except when I have to go outside first thing in the morning to let Fred out. 26 F this morning and yesterday wasn't much warmer. High today was 60 tomorrow about 67F.
I had to run out this morning to pick up things Walmart didn't have when I did my online order. Of course I found more things than I needed but what else is new.
Yesterday I baked one cookie recipe and I don't know if my oven isn't getting hot enough or I just needed to leave them in long enough. So I put them back in (big mistake) but they are eatable and great for dunking LOL I will get back to baking tomorrow. My poor granddaughter had to cancel out as she is having car problems and I don't want her to risk driving all the way over here and possible making the problem worse or braking down on the way here or on her way home. I'll make what I can and that will have to be good enough.
Finished beanies for the kids and all the gifts are now wrapped and under the tree. And that mess cleaned up.
PLEASE continue to wear your maskes and stay home if possible.

I wonder if our winter will be as bad as our summer? I am freezing to death here, and my temperatures are not as bad as yours.
ReplyDeleteWe have so many Covid-19 cases I am afraid to go to the store but luckily I have enough supplies but would like some real milk (been using powdered).
Sorry about your cookies. I hope your granddaughter gets her car fixed so she does not end up stranded in these cold temperatures.
We are at least above freezing here in the valley but it's still cold. I do enjoy seeing the sun every day. And I keep reminding myself of those summer temps. I so seldom bake anymore. No little ones around. And we don't need anything. But I am going to make a gingerbread applesauce cake for Christmas.

ReplyDeleteIt is really cold and I am so happy for my new furnace. I keep low at night as I don't like it warm when I sleep. But sweats are my best new friend LOL
Yes Covid is really bad here also and they finally started making bars and restaurants close again at 10pm until 7am. I know lots of places have closed down because they just couldn't make it through the close downs and yes its sad but I think they let all these places open way to soon which caused these horrible spikes.
The cookies are no big deal really but I'll try a few more today. Just to stay warm and busy.

It's a little warmer in the city than out here in county because of the wide open spaces. But yes I keep thinking about the nasty summer we had and I am grateful for the cold. Your cake sounds yummy! I wouldn't have bought so much baking stuff but my granddaughter wanted to make things. I'll do what I can and send home what ever baking stuff is left over with the recipes and she can make them at her place. She will get a ride over here on Christmas with her brother.
I could handle temps in the 60's but 26 degrees... yikes! I love the online oreding because I only get what I need but, like you, during those rare times when I have to go inside I come out with more than I bargained for.
