Some shopping

Yesterday I did some shopping trying to use some coupons. Some red glass hurricane lamps caught my eye. I have been having trouble getting in the spirit of  the holidays. So I thought maybe it was time to make some changes in the decorations. I have been using the same ones for years now. Add some new stuff every year but nothing big. So after coming home I kept thinking about those pretty things. So today I called the girls and asked if they wanted to go shopping again. Of course they were ready since it was another sports day for the guys. We hit a few stores and I settled on these.

Its a start. I have those battery candles in them so they don't get wax all inside and I don't have to worry about blowing them out. I haven't decorated like this before so it will be a new adventure.
The picture is dark so the candles show up. I looked at quite a few pieces in a few stores and I got a really good deal on these in a store called Kirkland's
I love this store as it has so many things to look at and the prices are great and when they have sales, they really have sales. These were on sale.
Other than that I haven't done much but take some walks and enjoy the weather.
My sister made a huge pot of Turkey soup and I will divide it up and freeze some. I love soup, I can eat it until it comes out of my ears..

Hope your weekend was fun.

  1. Tomorrow is going to be a soup day around here or chili. We are under a freeze warning tonight. The candles sure look nice, as does the whole table setting.

  2. I love c'mas decs! I think I'll get a little cheesy tree for my RV this year. I didn't have anything last year & really missed it. I like the candles & I love Kirklands sales! Plus they get unusal items in that are neat. I made turkey soup tonight too, but mine didn't turn out too good. Ah well, at least I tried.

  3. We have a Kirkland's not too far from where my home is, but I have never been in it. I'll have to check it out next time I am over that way.
Ditto on the soup. My favorite is lentil soup, with carrots, celery and lots of onion cut up in it, throw in some left-over ham or some polish sausage. Yummm!

  4. I, too, made turkey soup yesterday. We had it for dinner last night and will finish up at lunch today. Sure wish the freezer in the RV was bigger to allow to make lots more.

I am thinking about decorating the rig soon. Maybe later in the week. Your decorations look lovely.

  5. Hi John,
I hope it didn't get to cold and you stayed nice and toasty. Nothing like a hor bowl of soup on a cold night or afternoon.

Thanks for stopping by and stay warm.

    Hey TexCyn,
I usually have all the decorations out by now and getting it done. This year its just not there for me. I was in the MH last week and put Santa on the shelf and hung my little snowman from the antenna handle. In the house I have some snowmen around. I love snowmen.
But I will get it done soon.

    Thanks for coming by today.

    Hi Sunny,
Yes you should check out Kirklands its fun to walk around and see all the different things they have.
Soup is so good for us. And I love lental soup to yours sounds like the way my Dad used to make his.

    Glad you stopped by.

    Hello Phyllis,
I can really stuff things in my MH freezer. Try using really good freezer bags you can get more into the freezer that way. I learned that from my friend who RV's they never use the pkgs that the food comes in.

Thank you for stopping by today.

  6. The candles and cranberry plates are lovely! I've bought a faux Christmas tree I hope to find time to put up outisde this year. A little cedar I usually put lights on died in our drought last summer. Darn me for not watering it enough! >:[ Turkey soup has always been my favorite. I'll have to try your lentil soup Sunny. Sounds yummy. A new find I love is Jalapeno Sweet Potato Soup!

  7. Hi Winderly,

Thank you the plates are the cheap chargers and I just put them there for the color affect, :)
I have a pre lit tree I need to drag in the house. I guess I can bring it in a section at a time. And then start going thru boxes in the shed instead of bringing them in the house to look over. I really need to get on it so if them are things I don't want anymore I can bring them to the donation center so maybe people can get them and decorate who can't afford to by the stuff.
Your soup also sounds like a tasty treat.

    Thanks for coming today.
