Figured It Out

I had a problem with the a/c vent in the living room. Since I haven't spent to many summers here I never gave it a thought to furniture placement. That is until the heat came on full force. The vent for the living room was pretty much under the entertainment center or TV stand what ever you want to classify it as.  And with this heat it sure wasn't cutting it.  The last time my grandsons were here I forgot about it. So I was able to pull the furniture away from the wall and check to see if the vent was even open. Nope so I had to get a pair of pliers to get the wheel to move and open the vent. It didn't help to much as it was still blocked by the furniture, no I didn't push it back. Today I figured if I put a fan on top of the furniture it would help. I had a battery powered fan near by and used that. Sure did work well. It was able to pull that cool air over the top and right into the living room.  With the temp hitting 111 degrees today I needed all the cool air I could get.

Went to Walgreen's this afternoon to pick a my meds and came right back home. Even the door knob was hot and it wasn't in the sun.

Maybe I'll do something tomorrow morning to pass some time away from the house.

Good Night All

  1. You're saying you don't have AC in 111 degree heat??? just a fan??? man oh man OH man.... a battery operated fan pulled... 111 degrees?

that's insane ... 95 here today and I don't mosey out any where... kids went swimming again. Here it's the hot and humid so I guess 111 dry heat is ... less ... I don't know... I know nothing except...

    I don't like heat...

    hope you sleep well

  2. We managed 104 with more mosquitoes than I want to think about. Just an ugly day.

  3. That was a smart way to get that cool air into the room! We use fans to push air into areas where the ac fan just doesn't cut it! Hope you get a change in weather soon!!

  4. Hi Carolyn,

I have central A/C but there was a pieces of furniture in the way of the living room vent, I used the fan to pull the air over the cabinet which I pulled out away from the wall as far as I could. I'd be dead with those temps and no a/c .

    Hi JMD,

You must be higher up than Tucson to be so low. We have mosquitoes but not to bad yet.

    Hi Sondra,

It worked really well. I don't see any break in this heat until Sept. I know you have very high humidity but when ours is 20% we can't handle it. since we have 0 for many months at a time.

Oh well there are worse places to live. :)

  5. I'm glad the fan worked out for ya. Maybe you can get a bigger one and see if it works even better!

Whatever it takes to keep the heat away!

  6. oh yes, I read you had AC and that it was blocked off... what I meant to say is that you were comfortable with the fun blowing off a block vent...

? lol ... 111 degrees being comfortable with that arrangement... here? no way could that be comfortable. your low humidity makes it bearable ...

I think that's what I was trying to say.. anyway you're very clever in getting the cool air to you ... hopefully you're unblocked now ;)

gonna be another hot one here!

  7. Yes Jo, we are higher, 3,314 feet. Apparently mosquitoes still like this altitude. :-(

  8. Hi Jim my Friend,

I have a fan on a stand I was using out on the porch, I'll bring that in and move more things to make room for.

I know we need to stay cool.

    Hi Carolyn,
Vent is unblocked and the cool air is flowing nicely now. Supposed to be hotter here today too.

    Hi JMD,

Yes you are about 1,000' higher. Mosquitoes are like cocka roaches they can live through anything.

  9. 111!!!! Ouch. It's 58 here in Tok AK. I'll take that anytime. I don't know about you but the heat really bothers me anymore.

  10. It's 108 in Sacramento today and I want to be in Tok, Alaska where Phyllis is. I can't stand the heat but remember as a kid we just turned on a couple of fans and put up with it - what else could you do. I always remember reading about people dying in St. Louis tenemants in the heat, so I tried not to complain much. Now i complain loud & long!

  11. Hi Phyllis,
I sure wish I was there with you and your hubby. I hate this heat used to not bother me but now YUCKKKKK

    Hi Gypsy,

Really we never had a/c it was fans. We lived in NJ so the humidity was awful. But this is not nice here at all and I see you aren't to far behind us.
