Some Outdoor

It has been windy again and I have been indoors for days, outside of going to breakfast with my daughter and my great grandson.

One of my friends had a butterfly dish to make on her FB  so I had all the stuff needed so I made it. I haven't been able to find the plants needed to attract butterflies,  so hope this will work.

I still need to trim it out and cut some smaller peddles to fit in between the larger ones. I will then hot glue all the pieces to the dish. You make sugar water and spoon some on each piece of sponge. The original instructions called for a wound piece of sponge but I usually change things anyway.. I will add some floral wire to hold the flowers down more and make sure they don't blow off.

This morning there was just a slight breeze so I went out and raked up the yard as best I could . Raking up the mess from the Palo Verde tree that is on my neighbors property when you have gravel.
Watered the flowers and then sat out and enjoyed the porch until it started to get to hot and of course the wind started to pick up again. But it was nice to get out.

I think tomorrow I may go out and take pictures or something if the wind isn't blowing.

Good Night All

  1. Been wanting to make the butterfly dish too, but everywhere I want to put it, the wind will destroy or dry the sponges out fast - even on my east side patio. Guess the safest place is inside the house! After the winds quit blowing, then we have the monsoons. Oh well, I planted a couple of butterfly bushes and they are doing well, but don't see any butterflies.

  2. Hi Emily,
The plate is plastic, but I'm thinking about how long it will last to. These winds seem to be lasting so much longer this year and the sponges will dry out in about 5 min. I'm sure. What butterfly bush did you plant?

    Hi Phyllis,

Thank you have to do something when stuck indoors

  3. Still crazy windy here. I planted some red yuccas and the hummingbirds and butterflies love them. Wonder if you could get them to grow, really hardy.

  4. the weather here has been so nice, and a nice breeze blowing rather than windy, but I just don't feel like doing anything at all. I've never been so lazy.

  5. Hi JMD,

Red yuccas? going to look at the desert garden center to see if they have them. Of course then someone has to dig the hole.

    Hi Gypsy,

The temps are nice but the wind is awful. And I think that is what makes me so lazy. When all I do is stay indoors not much to do but sit around.
