Monsoon's Are Back

We had a few days of just sprinkles or no rain at all. Temperatures were down but the humidity was  and is awful.
I took a stroll around the yard and holy molly the weeds! I thought I was going to have to buy a weed whacker. I was going out and pulling some of the weeds but the humidity quickly ended that game plan. But I swear those things were growing 1 1/2" per hour. I check the shed and sure enough I had a full container of spray. I walked all around the house and sprayed. I had to be very careful of Fred out in the yard until it all dried but I still wouldn't let him wander around. In a couple hours you could see lots of dying weeds. We had a sprinkling of rain but it didn't hurt the spraying at all. I got out there again this morning and did another round as the grasses don't die as fast as the broad leafy stuff. The humidity was worse than yesterday and I was so happy to be done. I came in the house drank a bottle of water and hit the shower.

I thought I heard thunder but wasn't sure if it was the kid on the other side of the road beating the hell out of his drums. Nope it was thunder. I checked out side and could see the effects of the spray since the sun had been beating down on the weeds as I was spraying so I knew it would be OK and it would further let the weed killer sink into the ground to further to kill the roots. I use I believe its called Spetrecide our something like that. Stuff is fantastic you think I would remember the name after all these years.

Lots of flood warnings so somewhere in this city they are getting far more rain than my area.

Good Night All

  1. Like you and feeling the frustration of the weeds that the rains bring up; frustrated and tired of the heat; can take the rain a bit longer because of the "hot" breaks; but I want Fall to come so I can just go out in the yard and get the yard work done at anytime of the day. It's getting more frustrating as I get older too. Yesterday, I drove a cancer patient for his first chemo treatment and that was a nice break. He has such a wonderful attitude and humor that it was so refreshing. Today ain't gonna do nothing but what I want!

    1. Hi Emily,
It is frustrating for me because I start to have trouble breathing and the humidity makes it so much worse. But happy to say the stinky weeds are dead!. Even after the down pour yesterday after I sprayed. Nice of you to give someone in need a ride it is refreshing to brake the day up with something different and someone who has a great outlook even though they aren't doing well.

  2. I don't even walk into my back yard where I know there are some weeds that need pulling. We aren't having the problems with humidity that you do, but high temps and ultra dry heat are affecting me too. I can't wait for Fall to get here.

    1. Hi Gypsy,
I looked out the back and oh brother the weeds, I can't stand them and with all the rain they just spread like mad and if they come to seed it is a real problem. I find pulling them isn't that great because if you don't get out the root then they just come right back up. Now even the roots are dead. And yes I am so looking forward to Fall. I'm hoping to still go to the Mountains.

  3. Yup, I am finding weed killer is a heck of a lot less of a back breaker than pulling those dang things out of the ground. Agreed??

    1. Hi Phyllis,
I was so happy to look around this morning and they are all dead.

  4. I guess the extra moisture is making those weeds happy! I will have a jungle to cut and clean up when I return home!

  5. We have something in common...heat and weeds :-(

I would need gallons of weed killer to tackle mother's backyard.

    Keep cool!
