I am In Tucson, AZ Right

It has been so cold and rainy this winter. But this is crazy. I have not been able to get anything done on my camper it has rained so much this week and now it is sooo cold. We dropped down into the 20's last night and it was a cold day today. I only stepped out to let Fred out who did a quick job and ran back to the house.

Southeast of here they had lots of snow again and also at Madera Canyon where I was going to head for a camping trip. Guess that can wait a bit longer. They are now searching for a hiker in Madera Canyon, 83 yr man who called in 3 days ago to say he was lost. They quickly set out to the spot he should have been at and found nothing. They tell you never move from the place you last contacted the rescue people but he must have. They have no idea what he was wearing since it was well below freezing and snowing up at the higher elevations during the night. They now are calling it a recovery because they really don't think he could have survived these cold nights since he was lost. Hopefully he new how to make a survival hut and how to keep a bit warmer. But if he didn't have anyway to build a fire it doesn't look good. And if he could have started a fire they may have been able to find him from the smoke.

And we lost another blogger friend on Feb.3, David of In the Direction of Our Dreams, wishing Sherry, love and warmth in her time of sorrow.

Good Night All

  1. It does seem odd that it would be so cold and rainy in Tucson at this time.

How sad to hear about the lost 83 year old hiker. Why was he hiking alone? I hope they find him alive!

It is always sad to lose a fellow blogger as even without personally knowing one another we are one big Cyber family. My condolences to his wife and family.

    1. Hi MsBelinda,
The man has not been found, his son told the police his father was a very experienced hiker so who knows how this happened. Sad but we always hope for the best.
Yes we are like a big Cyber family.

    1. Hi George,
It turned out to be a beautiful day and when I left my house for shopping I had on to many clothes but it was still cold. I couldn't wait to get home.
It really isn't good to hike alone especially at that age. I must admit I did it all the time in my younger days.

  3. It has been cold lately, but the buds starting to show on our fruit trees brings me joy, nonetheless. It's always sad to hear of losing a blogging friend... I never dreamed that I would be blessed with so many friends via blogging, but sometimes with the joy comes sorrow. I will keep his family lifted in prayer...

    1. Hi Tatersmama,

It has been a cold winter for sure, I really don't mind cause it gets so hot here in summer so I embrace the cold. Yes I have made some great friends over in the blogger world.

  4. Definitely not the normal temperatures for this area at this time of year. Back Home they are struggling to keep warm.
It is strange that an 83 year old would be hiking by himself. Hope they find him healthy and happy.
We are a Cyber Family at best because we feel for other Bloggers.
Be Safe, stay warm and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. Hi Rick and Kathy,

No it isn't a normal winter for sure, I hoping it means a cooler summer for us here, If not I will become a hermit again for the 3rd year in a row. They still have not found the man so it really looks bad it has been way to long and to cold for him to have survided but we are still holding hope.
Yes we are and yes we feel for out fellow bloggers.

  5. I'm glad I have done all the hiking I wanted to do as I sure couldn't do it now! Anyone hiking n the cold weather needs to take along extra items needed for survival - I certainly feel ad for the 83 yr old and hope he's safe and hunkered down somewhere.

    1. Hi Gypsy,

That's what I keep hoping for that he brought enough clothing and snack bars. There have been tragedies on that mountain before when sudden snow storms hit and people werent prepared. There are bears and pumas up there also

  9. Hi Sondra,

No they still have not found him and more rescue crews from other parts of the state are coming in to join the search. Yes reviewing my pack also I have all kinds of thing in my camping set up but for just wandering taking pictures I need to up date that back pack. It was a little warmer today, but I spent the day making bread, shampooing the carpet until I ran out of shampoo and made a kito soup. I finally made and edible bread ahaha. No bricks this time and it was quite easy now that I have a stand up mixer.
