Catching Up

The weather had cooled down a bit but it is on the rise for the next few days, then back down again. Of course the wind has been a real pain in the neck.

Sat. my grandson Anthony stopped by with the little ones to pick up a package that was sent here for him. It was wonderful to see them and all wearing masks made out of t-shirt sleeves LOL it was a really nice visit. Of course no pictures.

Sunday my daughter stopped by for her pkg and she brought along her granddaughter another fun visit.

Today I was getting another grocery delivery. I thought that big order I did last time would do me for the month but OH NO. But the porch was filthy so at 8 am I went out and vacuumed it down and set up my sanitizing station. The order came right on time and it was the same couple as last time. Really nice couple and very respectful and friendly. As soon as they left I brought out my own bags and got to work wiping everything down with alcohol and then rebagged it and brought in the house. Got done just in time as once again the wind was coming up. I put up the cold stuff and sat for a few minutes to catch my breath. Then rearranged to pantry it was quite disorganized again. Finally got that all done and moved up to vacuuming the living room and hallway.

Tomorrow I really need to get out of the house and get to Super Walmart for a new phone and a new plan. Also have a small list of things to pick up there that they don't have at the Neighborhood Grocery Store.

A word of caution ordering from Michael's or any place using UPS. I ordered  3 different items at different times from them and I never received them they made it as far as Oregon and that was that. You cannot get anywhere with UPS or Michael's. The are only using a virtual chat system which goes nowhere. I called the local store today and she said she doesn't have a record of anything ordered on line and was telling me to use the chat. I explained I already tried that and it isn't even a working chat. She claims she sent them an e-mail and asked them to call me. well that never happened either. UPS is really failing these days. My daughter also never received and item she ordered from JC Penny, she finally received a refund. That was also a UPS. the other item she ordered came in 4 days from Fed Ex. UPS is using the excuse it's because of Covid 19 NO! If other companies are delivering on time and even early sometimes then lets not use Covid as an excuse UPS

Good Night All

  1. Glad you got to enjoy a visit with your family and the smaller family members.

I still have provisions but need more pre-packaged salads and fruits for our morning cereal. Will have to look into the new delivery service and how much it will cost us. Do they charge you a lot?

    1. Hi Belinda,

The order has to be $30. or more and I pay $7.75 for delivery. The only thing I don't like and can't be helped is all those darn plastic bags going to the trash. I'm getting pretty well stocked now but sure wish I could get a small freezer. I know there is going to be another round of this virus since they opened things way to early.

    2. Thanks for the reply JO, for some reason I thought it would be more. Perhaps I need to call them and see what it would cost to use their service.

This is a link for a 3.5 cu. ft. chest freezer, free shipping. Black & Decker brand. I bought an upright 4.5 cu ft. years ago for $238 I think. I had to go to and independent appliance dealer, the big box stores don't stock them. But I think upright (hinged front door). Good Luck

  2. We are planning on heading to Montana next month so I am now trying to use up food before we go. Our little trailer does not hold anywhere near what our Cottage does. We've had some wind but today is supposed to be really breezy. Not helping the fire up by Cave Creek.

    1. Hi Sandie,

I really would love to cut loose from here but by time I head out it will be monsoon and I don't want to be stuck in my tiny camper shell. Have a safe trip and enjoy the cooler temps. I hadn't heard about the fire in Cave Creek so many already this season.

  3. Glad you are continuing to stay Safe.
I don't like UPS because they always try to make a Buck from a Penny charging extra on delivery. Their Local depot is closed up while all other delivery businesses are open.
Be Safe and Enjoy the cooler temperatures.

    It's about time.

    1. Hi Rick and Kathy,

They didn't close here and the orders were placed after all the shut downs so I know they didn't close down here or in Oregon. But UPS has become a bad company and I will not order from any place that uses them anymore.

  4. It's strange how things are delivered. I have 2 grandsons with birthdays in April. I ordered them identical watches on Amazon the same day. The one that lives in Alabama received his within a few days. The one in Louisiana it took more than 3 weeks. What's with that!!!

    I can understand your frustration.

  5. Hi Phyllis,

That is so strange for Amazon I have never had any trouble with them and now that they do their own deliveries it is even better at least here. But I just want to be able to go out and shop and buy what I want by sight and feel.

  6. I haven't had much problem here in Sacramento with deliveries. If a company is running slower with fewer people to package up shipments, then I might have to wait an extra week, but I'm just grateful there are people to fill and package orders, and someone to deliver them.

  7. Hi Gypsy,
Glad your getting your things on time. Fed Ex is doing a great job of keeping up and Amazon but maybe because they opened a warehouse here. But some things are coming from other places and still arriving on time. It's just UPS we're all having a problem with

  8. Hi Jo! I'm also having some problems with UPS shipments through Amazon. It's been the UPS Sure Post where they ship to a location and then go through the post office after that. Ugg... But as far as Fed-Ex, Marcus (gotta love small towns where we know each other!) gets the packages on the deck and hides them away from people who don't need to see them.
