Heat Is On

Covid19 still going strong around here because  idiots still refusing to wear a mask.

The heat has been high and this weekend it will be even higher at 110 - 115. But I have nowhere to go so I just close up all the blinds and stay in. I only go out to let Fred out and we get right back in the house.

Still ordering deliver for groceries. More things are available except for my favorite coffee now and still no hand sanitizer or lysol spray. Don't understand that when my daughter finds them almost everwhere else. BUT they finally had Charmin!! That was a thrill.

Been cooking up a storm as I had room in the freezer. Made a veggie stew, a sort of veggie lasagna with no pasta or meat, more like a generic. LOL But the zucchin and eggplants haven't been all that fresh and have to be cooked fast. Half the eggplant and a zucchini along with other veggies went into the stew and the other half of eggplant and a zucchini went into the generic lasagna.

I also made bread the other day and it finally was a success. So that also went into the freezer since I won't be making another one until fall or winter. Had to keep the oven on far to long. But at least I finally made one that was eatable and not another brick. It was a no nead dutch oven recipe.

The baby blanket may not make it to the finish line for the 25th as the yarn was awful and I spent a good 4hrs trying to get it apart I finally gave up and cut it free. So we shall see baring anymore problems with yarn I may get it finished. It is coming out so pretty it would be a shame for it to be a wasted job. This was not cheap yarn and for this to come out in a waded mess was so aggravating. It must have been a dirty machine problem that just twisted the yarn and there was lots of fuzz that just tied the yarn threads together. Oh well fingers crossed that wont happen again.

Well I think that is about it for this exciting life of isolation. Thanks to all the IDIOTS who refuse to wear a mask.

Good Night All

  1. You guys are really in for the heat. I'm rather happy we are up here where our highs are in the low 80s, even with thunder storms every afternoon. I, too, would like to thank all those idiots who won't wear a mask. I just hope we make it through this.

  2. Can't imagine 115 degree heat. 90s and humid here is enough. Biscuit even asks to come in as I'm sure Fred appreciates the coolness inside also.

  3. The Local Health Units have passed Mandatory wearing of Masks. Stores are now refusing you entry if you don't have one on. It's the best way to stop the spread.
Be Safe and Enjoy the AC.

    It's about time.

  4. Hi Sandie,

At least you escaped the heat just in time. Going to be another long hot summer. Enjoy your summer.

    Hi Phyllis,

I not shocked by this heat as we do get it every summer but I was so ready to leave here when the virus struck. Yes Fred is loving the a/c and makes quick outdoor visits.

    Hi Rick and Kathy,

This Covid19 has become a polical virus in this country driven by the clown in the white house. So any excuse to start a riot will do and keeping someone out of a store or insisting that they wear a mask is reason for the idiots to scream civil rights.

  5. Not as hot here, but to me anything over 90º is HOT. We are in the low 100's. Went and did my monthly WM inside shopping yesterday (usually for more personal things, b'day/anniversary cards, etc) and noticed a whole lot more people wearing masks - in fact not wearing was in the minority this time. Guess the rising # of positive tests in our county and being next to a very active hotspot county and bad, bad El Paso is getting some to think again. I use the WM pick-up a lot (no delivery here) and I love it. Been using it for 4 months and no mistakes or bad choices in fresh produce. Oh hey, I am fixing up the back of my pickup/shell topper to do some truck tent camping later this year, having fun with it. I can't believe I am even glamping the back end!!!!

  6. Hi Emily,

This heat is crazy but like I said I'm stuck indoors anyway so it really doesn't matter. Trying to use the swamp cooler for a couple of hours a day so I don't have to run a/c to much the bill was already over $100. OH how I wish I could do some camping but the covid and the heat just isn't a very good idea. Was even thinking of renting a cabin for a couple days but dang they are so expensive even this time of year. Have fun with fixing up your camper shell.

  7. I'm stuck in place with one arm out of commission, so I am really bored. I can't imagine why folks won't wear a mask in public - my siblings are the worst!

  8. Yeah, you got your Charmin!

You have been a very busy lady cooking up a storm and knitting. I briefly considered using the oven to heat my individual pizza but knew it would heat up the kitchen...so used the microwave instead.

Do you watch CNN or MSNBC? They have been featuring many city mayors from your state and they do not have nice things to say with regards to the governor.

My own state is knee-deep in it and yet the liar-in-chief insists it is all "under control"...I would like to know who the hell believes this clown? I will just stop there as I feel my blood pressure rising!

We are expecting hellish temperatures this weekend in all of Texas. I hope your temperatures as much lower and please take care of yourself.

  9. This week has been monsoons for us with buckets of rain...Im stir crazy I did take a quick ride in the rain and just used my umbrella. I go stir crazy so quick...I don't run into anyone on my rounds, and wear a mask when Im near any people so it's working so far for me, still many people not going along with the program I imagine they will end up either sick or passing to someone who also didn't have a mask I still go to the store and get my own items...I wear my mask, clean my hands as soon as I get to the car and spray my items with Lysol once inside and clean all the veggies in the sink with hot water...so HOPE that's enough to keep me safe.

  10. Hi Gypsy,
Maybe your kids can pick up some old movies for you to watch on your TV. They had some great comedy back in the day and some great old movies with the really old actors. They come in DVD's.

    Hi MsBelinda,

It is going to be very hot here with temps in the 115 and they increased that tonight to 118 but Sunday and maybe maybe into the following week. So I wanted to get as much cooking done and possible so I won't have to use the stove anymore after breakfast.
My grandson is moving to Houston on Monday for a job and will be there 4 to 6mths. I know he will be OK he is an adult but my poor daughter is heart broken as they are very close, but a job that pays well are hard to come by.
I don't watch any of those channels as a matter of fact I don't think I even get them. I watch a bit of the 4 pm news and thats it. The Mayors have no room to talk they are all just as bad as the governor bunch of liver lillied cry babies.

    Hi Sondra,

We sure could use lots of bucket of rain here. Today a pilot was killed fighting the fire his helicopter crashed they didn't have much info at 4pm news.
Stir crazy has been held off by cooking up a storm and trying to finish that blanket. And with the crazy temps heading this way I will have to be content staying in a darkened house to keep back some of the heat. It's going to be a very long hot summer. Since I get my groceries delivered I don't have any contact with anyone including family. I wear gloves and use lysol spray on the bags before I bring them in the house. I use vinegar with a drop of dish soap and warm water to wash my veggies. One of my daughters was tested and she is fine so she may stop by Friday, but I told her she still needs to wear a mask. You take care and be safe also

  11. Yay! Glad you got Charmin!! I don't go to stores or public places very often (mostly due to MCS) but I can't believe how many people aren't wearing masks these days. It's no different than wearing a seatbelt. It may not be 100% effective but it greatly reduces the risk.

  12. Hi Connie,

No stores for me due to lung issues and this virus. It is unbelievable how ingnorant people can be screaming about their rights. There are things I have not been able to get with ordering from so I may have to go to Walgreens to get certain things but every day I put it off.
