I HAVE HOT WATER!!!

Today I got my new hot water heater installed! This morning I barely had enough warm water to take a fast shower a very fast shower. As a matter of fact don't even think I got all the soap off me. We played it by a string since Michael had a big job in Benson, AZ to finish before coming to Tucson to do a few jobs here. I have been heating water on the stove to do dishes. Of course I have to do that when camping and if push came to shove I could have used my camping shower at least the water would have been hot and lasted longer LOL

All the holiday things are put away and did more cleaning of the shed. What a mess in there need to get rid of more STUFF.

The weather has warmed up a bit for the next few days and it is perfect right now. Would like to spend some time outdoors so cleaning up the porch is also on the NEW to do list.

Good Night All

  1. Congratulations on the new water heater. We need to replace ours as well but the price we got two years ago was ridiculous, I can only imagine what it costs now. You are so lucky to have a handyman like Michael he is worth his weight in gold!

I think we campers have a leg up on other people because we have better survival skills and can use our camping experience to get us through a tough situation.

  2. Hi MsBelinda,
Yes the prices on these heaters have gone way up just like everything else, and since it's natural gas it is even more expensive. You know how it goes fix one thing and other things go wrong.

Yes our camping skills can bring us a lot further than those who do not have them. My biggest problem is heating the camper but hopefully the really cold has passed us for the winter.

  3. Hot water is just so wonderful. So happy you have some again. I am loving thesev80 degree days. With sunshine. And the nights are perfect for sleeping. Our shed is like yours. So full of Jim's stuff. But getting him to tackle it is a whole different chore.

  4. Hi Sandie,
Yes the weather right now is perfect but day time highs aren't as high as yours but I'm not complaining about the weather at all.

It is going to be so wonderful to take a nice hot shower not just a warm one and not having to rush before the warm runs out.

  5. Oh a new water heater, yes they are wonderful. I had to get a new one in Nov as the old one started leaking from the bottom. Since I live in a mobile home, water heaters for mobile homes are to be installed instead of ones for stick built homes. If I didn't and a fire, etc starts due to the wrong water heater installation, insurance won't pay for the resulting damage. I got a natural gas, 30 gal one from Home Depot for $750. And I went thru 2 previous purchases to find one "slim" enough to get into the water heater closet. What a mess that all was.

Am also enjoying the warm weather we are also getting and spending as much time outside as possible before the next onslaught of cold weather. Happy New Year.

  6. Hi Jo, glad you got hot water, its not fun having a cold shower!! I need a new one but am holding off...the cost is only going to get higher for sure...I have been asking are any of these recent price hikes going to go down when things level out? I rather doubt it...when was the last time a price reduced?? We have a cold blast hitting us this week...high today will be 48....brrr.

  7. Hi Emily,
This year that water heater would have cost you more! I also have a 30gl. Michael new what to buy thank heavens for this guy, but of course he is licensed and bonded. And luckily I had plywood left from something since the floor was in really bad shape to he even put a round pan under the heater.

    Happy New Year!

    Hi Sondra,
When I was talking to Michael yesterday he said since the beginning of 2021 price have gone up 20% on most things and doesn't see any reduced prices coming down. We both said than heavens I bought my new furnace last year that would have been much higher price this year and the new cooler also and the new coil for the A/C unit. If you have electric hot water it will be a little cheaper. Don't put it off any longer if you can swing it. And for sure I will never let a year go buy with out doing a draining of a little water out.

  9. Hi Phyllis,

I must be a bit like you, it was a gorgeous day today to I went out and tackled pull things out of the truck. Got the mattress' out for some reason they were not in the same case so I dragged them into the house and washed the covers then fought them back into each cover then put them together in one. Of course there is no way I will be able to carry them back out now. Will have to wait for help.

  10. I agree with Ms. Belinda - campers have great survival skills because we know how things can go wrong, and we just have to deal with them. I know we can all come up with stories of how we have dealt with the impossible, and it gives us such confidence that we can face whatever comes our way!

Yes I bet we could all sit around and tell some stories and have some good laughs.
