Got Rain?

We hadn't had rain for a few days and was wondering if monsoon was over. Nope of course most of what we were hit with was from Tropical Storm  Kay. It started yesterday 9/11 late afternoon, lots of thunder, lightening and high winds, rain came down in buckets. It would stop but the thunder came rumbling back and brought more rain. It rained most of the night with rumbling thunder.

This morning 9/12 the day started out nice and bright and cool with a slight breeze. It was wonderful, tried to just use the cooler but of course the humidity was to high. But the A/C didn't come on until around 10 am. The weather called for more rain for late afternoon again. But Kay had other ideas the rumbling started around noon and the winds started picking up again. About 1:30 pm the rains came and went. Then the down pours started on and off. With constant rumbling of thunder. Around 3:30 it started to pour down rain and the winds were crazy. Around 4pm I turned on the news and WOW!! Tornado Warning,  took up most of the news. The warnings were for open lands between Eloy and upper Marana. Things got pretty crazy around 4:30 with super high winds, down pouring rain and hale mixed with sun shine! Since the awards, were going on I couldn't find any news. But just before I got on here tonight I did see some videos on a news channel and indeed there was a funnel but very small. People on I10 were asked if they can find a safe place to leave the freeway to do so. From the videos not to many took that seriously.

My daughter sent me a text to ask if we were getting rain  and yes it is pouring, Debbie said on the northeast side they barely had sprinkles.

My back yard was pretty flooded and a run off went  down the right side of my front yard. It has been years since that happened. But within 1/2 hr after it stopped all the water had either soaked into the ground or had run off the into the street and down the road to the wash. And you know Fred was not going to go out to do his business while the yard was flooded or in the rain silly dog.

Looks like tomorrow will be mostly sunny with clouds.

Good Night All!

  2. We had quite a storm Sunday evening. Being in a trailer on wheels meant I was getting pushed around a whole lot. The wind was wicked. Then came the rain. And boy did it cone down. Lighning and thunder. Wow. But we were luckier than you because yesterday's storm broke up before it got here. I don't blame Fred one bit. Pee pads are our friend.

    1. Hi Sandie,
Yes Sunday was crazy, but yesterday was even worse. It's so strange the way it works out some parts of town only had drizzle while this southwestern side got slammed pretty hard.

  3. Hi Sondra,
I hope they got rain where the fires are, this kind of rain would surely help. It is cooler but the humidity is 89% but hopefully the sun will dry things up a bit.
Hope you get to sit outside today and you have a great day. Blessings

  5. Hi MsBelinda,
We sure did I just hope it helped the drought some. It was a pretty crazy couple of days. But the rain didn't even hit half of the city. Talked to someone up northeastern, AZ and she said they got a good 2 days worth so that will help keep fires down.
