Porch Floor Is Done

Yesterday was a little cleaning and not much more. Wasn't anything to write about.
Painted one of the patio tables that looked really nasty I don't even know where or when I got that table but it had to be a yard sale find.

Anthony came today and he got to work painting the porch. It took the entire 5 gl. bucket. Of course I didn't remember to take pictures until he had almost finished the first coat so I just took some  edge picture. The flooring was in really bad shape lots of splinters and cracking. I can't believe how good it came out. One of the worst things you can do is carpet a porch that gets hit with rain. I removed the carpet years ago as it was here when I bought this house and it was really rotten. My poor grandson Michael pulled it up what a nasty job and the shop vac wasn't working right and just blew the junk in his face. I tossed that thing then and there.

This is the outer edge to the west where the sun is constant in the summer

This is the west corner and they must have had a flower pot here and carpet. Was sure it would cover the mess took a bit of scrapping and we went for it. Anthony put on a really thick coat here.

This after with a few heavy coats it still had ripples but no splinters

I'm sure I will have to have it cut and replaces but for now it will not rot anymore and is protected from the sun and rain.
All dry and set up the grey lump to the top right is a small piece of carpet I may use but pick it up if and when the monsoons get here.

Good Night All

  3. Great make over of the porch floor. sitting on the porch with a cool drink is a favorite pastime of mine for sure!! I painted a concrete porch floor with some epoxy paint, thinking I was waterproofing it, well since this is a high humidity area, when the humidity gets up, the floor now sweats! I have no idea how to solve this new problem!

  6. Hi Carolyn,

This had outdoor carpet too and it was glued down. But Michael got it up and let me tell you it was a nasty job. That's a big porch. He needed to scrap it off. Carpet once thought to be the height of fashion ruined lots of wood decks.
Yes I want to go play too.

    Good morning John,
Thank you. getting the jobs done one at a time but getting them done.

    Hello Karen,

Yes getting them done it was time.

    Hi Sondra,

I love sitting out there and reading or crocheting and watching the bird. Of course once the heat sets in then not so much.
I don't know how to fix your problem either. Maybe running a box fan will help move the air enough to keep down the moisture?

    Hi Lucy,

Yes it looks great and feels great on my forever bare feet and Fred won't be all full of the peeling paint, rotting straw rug. He did do a good job hang over and all. That'll teach him.

  7. The porch looks good. When I lived in NC I had large decks in the front as well as across most of the back of the house. I stained the wood a couple of times and thought I'd never get through it all. The floor wasn't as bad as all the railings.

  8. Hello Gypsy,

The railing are bad too but will get done in the fall when we paint the house. I may change all that out with something nicer and less trouble to take care of.

  9. Jo,

You are getting very spiffy at your place. Your porch looks nice and probably doesn't give you fits anymore when you look upon it. We have plenty of projects to keep us busy. Right now I am painting bedroom and suffering all the aches and pains that go with that. lol The man thinks I might be getting older but I am confident it can't be anything that serious!!! ;)

  10. Hi JMD,

LOL I don't think he knows what he's talking about either.

Taking a break from projects for awhile or I won't have any money to take a trip. You know important things must come first.
