Plan F

Haha it might be even higher by now. I am not looking for a camper anymore. This thing is going to work even if it kills me.

Going to go buy a nice piece of maybe 4 or 6" foam to fit the futon frame. Throw out that stupid futon mattress. I realized that the mattress is to wide for the frame causing to slid off the edge and taking up more room in the middle of the camper, not to mention even with the 1.5 memory foam topper it was still like sleeping on a rock. It caused my hip to really hurt so I had found a square piece of 3" foam and added it to the hip area. which really felt better but then it was to hard to move.

I cut the memory foam down today to a better fit of the frame but of course the mattress is still in there until I buy the foam. I had a heck of a time cutting that foam util I went and got the hacksaw from the shed. At least at the foam place I can give them the measurements and they use an electric knife makes a really nice cut.

Other than that I didn't do much today I think that was enough anyway restling with those mattress' and pulling all the bedding off.

Good Night All

  2. I have a Coleman air mattress that cost me about $30-35. I bought it to replace a worthless air mattress that I had bought at Walmart, although my first one purchased at Walmart lasted me for a long time. It's a twin size which may be a little wider than you want it, but it sure is comfortable. I just use a sleeping bag with it, but you could easily put a twin sheet on it, blanket, etc. I also use a thermarest ($$$) which is very light weight and comfortable although thin and more narrow than the air mattress. I don't know if it would be as comfortable on a wooden platform as it is on the ground. I don't think the ground is as hard as the ground! Wish we lived closer and you could try mine out.

  3. LOL I'm enjoying your spirit and spunk where there is a will there is a way!!!! The only thing with an air mattress is they are so dang cold in winter!! A good quality sleeping bag will help keep the cold out..ever thought of ordering a sleeper seat? That's what is in my van you pull it out to make a bed and its a upholstered bench seat when in upright position check it out they also make an extension platform may work well for you the cushioning and springs are way better than the futon..

  4. Hi Karen,
I'm going to win this battle yet!

    Hi Gypsy,

I don't have room for a full sized twin. As I have mentioned before I have a mid sized truck which is about 2' narrower than a full sized truck. I think I will go to a place that sells foam and have them cut it to fit the frame of the futon and just throw that ugly mattress away. Warmth in the bed is not a problem.

    Hi Sondra,

Glad you are enjoying this haha Yes there is going to be a way to fix this. I will check out what you mentioned but I'm sure it will be to big for my truck like I told Gypsy it is a mid sized truck so the bed is smaller in width.
