Again!

It was still raining this morning and I know it poured all thru the night. It was not a bad day. The sun tried to break free but didn't have much luck.

Did some laundry and crocheted some of the wash clothes. Did some porch time too.

I thought I heard thunder again about 5 pm but wasn't sure until it got louder and then the wind came up fast . A big bolt of lightening shot across the sky so I came in and unplugged the lap top. I do have a safety power strip but I still prefer to unplug. Then darkness. first the DirecTV went off big surprise there, not. Then the power after a really big boom and flash of lightening. The wind was blowing so hard I had to close the front door which is where the covered porch is but it still was coming in.

I love my battery powered LED camping lights and my battery powered fans. Brought one LED light into the computer room and turned on the fan and played spider until the laptop battery was almost out of charge.

Figured I might as well get ready for bed and open up the window in the bedroom and run the other fan in there. As I was pulling back the covers I realized the power had come back on. Shut off all my little gadgets, turned on the a/c and plugged in the laptop. And here I am.

Good Night All

  1. I don't mind rain, but electrical storms frighten me a little. I'm in the habit of unplugging nearly everything before going to bed a night, except for the TV and all that paraphanalia! I have heard that even if the device is turned off, the plug will draw phantom power, and I'm too cheap to pay for electricity such as phantom power!

  2. I'm also an unplugger. Especially in the RV. Glad your weather is cooling down before we get back. But enough with the rain. We're having rain here in Jackpot also but no lightning and thunder thank goodness.

  3. Hi Gypsy,

I don't go that far, yes I have heard of the phantom draw but if I had to unplug everything in my house it would take awhile.

    Hi Jim n Sandie,

I can understand in the RV it's a little easier. I sure hope it continues to cool down too. And yes I think we are well over our water needs now. And these have been some really hard core rains. and I just noticed it's clouding up again.

  5. We lost power for a brief second, long enough to need to reset clocks, etc. Lots of rain.

  6. Hi Sondra,

These are great and the batteries last a long time, I take them when I go camping too of course. And the fans have been great too but they sure take a lot of batteries so I bring lots with me. DirecTV is a pain going to look into antena everyone is talking about and gives lots of free channels.

    Hi JMD,

These digital clocks can be a royal pain. I can't believe that the entire town was not affected by this storm. My daughter was in down town Tucson and said it never rained
