Triple Digits

I had a really good nights sleep last night and made it all the way through in my bed. I was so happy this morning when I woke up and it was 6:15 am. So I got up started my day. I'm still coughing like crazy but at least I feel better and have some breaks in between spells.

So I took a shower and went shopping. Believe me I was out of everything. My grandson was going to go with me since I needed so much but he got called into work and that comes first. So I bought what was needed to get me by I can always go back for the rest. I bought mostly veggies fresh and frozen and a huge bag of chicken legs for $4. I split them into zip lock bags of three each and then put them in a larger freezer bag. Then when I want to make soup I just have to grab a bag and defrost it and it is just enough for me. I also picked up a huge bag of oriental frozen veggies that are for stir fry. I like the variety in those bags I double bag them once they have been opened.

Came home put on a nice big pot of chicken, barley and veggie soup. What difference the bone in chicken makes.

Yep we are back into triple digits again this is the worst and longest summer I can remember and we past last years hottest summer. Well aren't we just going to celebrate now. They aren't getting any hip hip yahoo's out of me.

Good Night All

  1. Nice that you have some bone in chicken g=for your soup I am sure you will love it and so good for you. The frozen chicken you don't need to the it for soup, from freezer to a pot of water and boil it for your broth.
Maybe the weather will cool down soon for you.

  2. Homemade Soup is always the best and it looks like you are ready.
Looks like we're warming again for this week, though not as bad as before. Next week looks like fall weather until it turns white. Maybe some of it will reach you down there.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  3. Hi George,

Boy was that a good bowl of soup.=)

    Hi Rick and Kathy,

Yes it is heating up around here again. Maybe I should take a trip up your way to cool off for a while. This is really getting annoying.

  4. Glad you are feeling better, Jo. I broke my computer glasses so I'm having a hard time on the computer. I like bone in chicken better for everything--I wonder what makes the taste so much better--the marrow?

When my kids were growing up I would cook all day Sunday and so I'd have a meal to re-heat as there was so much age difference with them that I ran crazy for different activities every day after school.

I think we've had the wettest spring and summer that I can remember. By now lawns are usually all brown. Not this year. Hugs to Fred.

    1. Hi Nancy,

Go get your self a pair of cheaters. You can buy reading glasses at almost any store. My eye surgeon recommended them to me. I buy mine at the dollar tree as I keep them all over the house and in the truck.

I think it is the bone morrow but it sure does make a big difference.

When I worked I always cooked on Sundays for the week. I never knew when I was going to get home.

We are once again into triple digits here and I swear I wish I was set up to get out of here and head for the mountains

  5. You almost make me want to go put on a pot of soup! I'm glad you were able to get out and get your groceries. After last night's fiasco leaving Ricky in his crate while I did some shopping, I have decided to take advantage of my grocery's delivery service. I looked at many items on their website and the prices don't seem out of line, so I'm going to try it soon. I never thought I would try it in a hundred years, but I never thought I would need it!

    1. Hi Gypsy,

Well for as long as you have been reading my blog you know how much I love soups. I really thought about the shopping on line and deliver. If you try it I would like to know how you felt about it. When my kids were small I used to walk to the store with them do the shopping and then have them deliver it to my house.

  6. Glad to hear you feeling better, not glad to hear of the triple digits! Here we wait to see what Florence is gonna do it is a wee bit cooler, I don't mind the heavy rain we will probably get as long as we don't get the strong winds...I have 100 ft pines all around my home! I hate grocery shopping, always have but it's something we gotta do!

    1. Hi Sondra,

Yes I am feeling better thank you. But I really need to start getting out of the house. It was a big sleeping day. I know they say it's good to sleep but this is crazy. I think it's the cold meds so going to cut back now. Hope you make it through Florence OK. I'm sure your prepared. Yes I hate grocery shopping and I also always have. But sometimes we just gotta do what we gotta do. Be safe with the storm

  7. I am not much of a cook but I love soups. With the recent rains we have been in the mid 80's but those triple digits will soon return.

    Glad you are feeling better.

  8. Hi MsBelinda,

Seems we will be in the triple digits for at least 2 more weeks. I'm done with this and really need to figure out something for next year to get out of here.

    Thank You

  9. Jo, hoping you are feeling all better by now. Our temps here have been in the 90's and very high humidity. Sweat just runs! Getting things wrapped up so can hopefully leave by end of Sept. Take care, friend!

  10. Hi Sunny,

Every day seems a little better but I get tires so fast. How fast I just finished putting my bed back together since I took it all the way down to the mattress and washed everything. Sure glad I had and extra pillow from the camper since I didn't quite get my pillows dried enough.
I have your blog all set up again Thank You
