It is so hot and dry here making it perfect fire season. We have already had 5 fires some human caused and some lightening. They have all been put out but one, and it's bad. It is in the Catalina Mountains and has now dropped down the side of the mountain. They have evacutated some 200 homes as of this afternoon and some are put on pre evacuation status. They told people to please gather your important papers, meds.,valuables and extra clothing. They were told where they can go and if needed to take your pets to the human sociaty and large animals to the race track. And some idiot with a drone put a stop to air firefighting planes and helicopters which caused considerable time wasted and letting the fire grow. This fire is in very deep and rugged terrain and they will not send firefighters in there so it needs to be fought by air.
Other than that I have been pretty busy around the house, shampooing the carpets and packing up more donations. They will be doing a pick up next Friday.
And like everyone seemed to know but our brain dead Politician's opening things up we have a huge increase in Covid19. Today the Governor did this long winded speach that went on and on until I turned it off since he wasn't really saying anything and kept repeating the same things over and over. We know how many hospital beds there are and how many ICU beds and ventilators there are. But why can't you just admit you messed up. Are we supposed to be thrilled because you messed up and all those beds will fill up and more people are going to die.
Anyway the triple digits are back and I had to switch back to the A/C as the cooler just couldn't handle the heat enough to be comfortable Maybe because I waited to long to turn it on. I'll see how it goes turning it on earlier in the morning.

ReplyDeleteListening to the Doctors and Scientist is the wise thing to do. The Politicians only know how to create fertilizer.
Cooling things down in the early part of the day is the only way to cool your home.

ReplyDeleteI am so glad that they are giving people an option of where to drop off their pets and large dogs. I had never heard of that before and I commend them for it.
Cable news has done a good job of reporting all the new Coronavirus outbreaks in those States that opened up too early. Those Governors were more concerned with pleasing Bone Spurs than the health of their citizens.
Politicians in particular Republican ones have taken a page from the administration and never admit they made a mistake much less offer an apology.

I know when to get the house cooled down. Work was being done on the cooler so it was turned off. But it was way to hot already for the cooler to work so I turned on the A/C. I turned on the cooler at 6 am today and we will see how it goes with temps at 108 the cooler may not be able to get the house cool enough for me. At 10:30 am it is already 98 F.

Yes they are everywhere.The Fire is only 10% contained because of this excive heat and winds it is very dry to.
Yes they have been putting escape plans in for a few years and they have really don't a great job. U Haul is lending out horse trailers and other needed small box trucks to haul what can't fit in a car and of course for Horses or other large animals such as goats, lamas, etc. to be taken to the Rilloto Downs race track where they will house these animals until this is over and safe to return home. More homes have been evacuated since yesterday that bring the total to ove 200 families.
Politicians as you said will never admit to being wrong!
Illinois just started re-opening with limitations. The bad thing is they aren't going to enforce the Phase 4 limitations so people can pretty much do what they want and that's the scary part. Anyway, stay safe, stay cool and I look forward to the next post :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, fires not good hope it can be contained...I am not a fan of drones not since one flew up in my face one day when I was on a boardwalk in TX, I stuck out my tongue and flipped it off! One guy was being harassed and he tossed a rock at the drone, can you believe that the FAA calls drones an aircraft and you can't knock it down? Well lets put it this way if you knock it down make sure you conceal your identity. OR crash it and trash it...

Hot here humid too, and the cases are spiking, I can't imagine what fall will be like. If everyone would follow the guidelines I do think it would help. I really hope Lindsay Graham gets the boot this time come Nov.

That just cannot get a good hold on the fire because of the wind and super high dry heat. I hear in Cananda you need a license to fly a drone. But I'm sure if they had that here no one would care and do as they please anyway. You bet I would destroy one and smash the crap out of it. Yep it's the operators they are idiots for sure. It's already 104 at 12 noon. I may have to turn the AC on this heat is to much for the cooler. While humidity is still low the rest of it is all pretty high doesn't make much sense that it feels so humid. Yes numbers are spiking big time here. I feel like the walls are moving in on me. I try sitting out in the early hours but the mosquitos are awful. Take care and stay safe and cool
Re delivery. U-Haul rents pickup or vans for $19.95 per day. Do You have a grandson in high school, who love to drive an almost new pickup? You could check Nextdoor to see if anybody is asking for help moving something.

ReplyDeleteAll my grandsons have busy jobs but I'm sure they would find time to unload the freezer for me, we will take measurements to see if the freezer will fit with out removing the bed. Funny I just got an e-mail from Home Depot to let me know they still don't have the freezer I wanted. OH Well guess I will just keep waiting unless I see them somewhere else for that great price.
When I bought my first counter high freezer, I had a Buick Riviera, and the trunk was too small. So I took the back seat out of my '62 Corvair, put the top down, and we placed the freezer behind the passenger seat. It didn't weigh too much so I was able to slide it into the house before removing the carton. I still have that Corvair convertible.

ReplyDeleteGreat story, I had an Corvair, it may have been a 62 not sure but not a convertable. I'm sure when the time comes to get the freezer it will fit just fine in the back of the truck, I'm not getting a very big one only a 3.5. Just that other things keep popping up right now.
