Is it Over Yet!

Does anyone remember the saying I'm so broke I can't even afford to pay attention? It would be great if I don't have to step foot in another store or buy gas until mid February.

Just buying the food for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day was enough to make me feel faint. I had a little less than half a tank of gas and it was $45. to fill the tank. Then had to refill my inhaler and we know it was $160. Thank You all  government thieves. Anyway stick me with a fork I'm so done!

Rant over

Today I made the eggplant parmesan for Christmas Eve and put it in the freezer so that will be out of the way. I'll make the rest of the food on Thursday so it will all be done and no rushing around. I will just pop the trays into the oven for a bit to heat it all up and have it ready to serve. Nothing fancy just baked ziti, sauce and meat balls. I'll do a side of baked ziti with alfredo sauce for my grandson who is having stomach issues.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Have to go know my thumb is very unhappy with me since I did a filet on it the other day. Makes it hard to type. 😖

  1. I remember that saying! Gas isn't bad here (yet) but I hear it's getting bad everywhere. Ouch!! I hope your thumb is better soon. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁

  2. I cringe every time we have to go to the grocery store or fill the tank. I have used both sayings - so broke and stick a fork. It's especially bad with all the trips we've had to make to Scottsdale - just about 60 miles round trip. And our truck doesn't get the best mileage. I'm fixing a ham fir Christmas Eve - just stick it in the crock pot. Your poor thumb. Take good care of it.

  3. Hi Connie,
I know why our gas is so high its snow bird season. Roads and stores are packed not just because of the holiday. Well at least I'm getting the one thing I have been waiting for and that's the nice cold weather! Thank you I do hope it heals quickly guess it was deeper than I thought.

    Hi Sandie,

The prices are crazy out of control on everything. And all the traveling you have to do for Drs. who don't follow through on there end. I only have a mid sized truck with V6 so at least my mileage isn't to bad. We had so much ham left over from Thanksgiving couldn't really wrap my head around another one. LOL Crock pots are a wonderful thing.

  4. And then there is the problem of getting items on your shopping list. I do the Walmart online thing. No brown rice, no white rice, no large pasta shells, no ricotta cheese, no chocolate milk, no Mrs Ts Pierogies. I don't remember there ever being so many items out of stock.

    1. Hi Phyllis,

I stopped ordering anything online as they seemed to always be out of things. I started doing my own shopping again. I did find ricotta at Safeway. But the Walmart seems to have stopped MrsTs Pierogies a while ago here bumbed me out. And my daughter went to Fry's today and couldn't find pasta shells there either. Glad I found all my cheeses to make the baked ziti.

  5. Hi JO I think Im in the same boat, and on top of that the county insists on sending out our tax bills right here in mid December, we have only 45 days to pay it and they don't take partial payments...mine was a whopping $1037 up 30% over last year. I guess I will eventually have to sell out!! Move someplace cheaper. I have no clue about dinner, IM waiting to hear what the plan is if there is one. Meanwhile you take care...Hope it all goes as planned for you...and soon it will be overwith!

  6. Hi Sondra,

Our property tax went up here to but at least it is 2 payments. Been reading more and more of mostly women going full time in mini vans and make the best of it. As for dinner they finally called me today about it I will make what ever and when they get here they get here. If I'm hungry I'll just go ahead and eat.

  7. It has been a long time since I heard that saying...it brought back good memories of our widow Austin, Texas neighbor, whom we first heard it from...she was a lovely lady!

I wish I knew how to cook as well as you. I am envious that you have room in your freezer :-(

Sorry to hear about your thumb, I hope it heals soon.

  8. Hi Jo! I know the feeling! I'm strapped too. Everything is going up fast...just as I got cut to 15 hours per week at work. They talk about how much employers need people... and they hire a ton of them and we don't get hours.

Hang in there... Hopefully things will get better. I hope you have a terrific Christmas! VT

  9. Hi MsBelinda,

For some reason I have been remembering so many old saying these days.
I'm not that great of a cook but I do my best. I don't have room in my freezer but plenty will go out the door Christmas Eve and Christmas day thankfully since I do not do carbs anymore and most of these meals are high in carbs.
Yes my thumb has healed pretty good still a little tender but much better and has finally closed up.

    Hi Brad,
I am going to really have to bite the bullet after this holiday is over. I sure over spent but. But if I had gotten it done a couple months ago it wouldn't have been so bad.

As for you work hours man that really stinks first they work you to death and then make you starve. That's what happened to my daughter, but luckily she had made out really well doing door dash which she loves doing on the side

    Merry Christmas Brad!!
